Unsung Heroes - Readers. Twilight Lawns goes to Italy. Part 5 of 42.
71Could not decide on a colour?
The Center
- Dolores: Alarming… Very alarming… I think I woke up enough… to…
- Narcissus #2: to have a conversation… Let me ask you… what in God’s name are you wearing? Couldn’t decide on the colour? I like “yellow”. It is still THE CENTER.
- Dolores: I was planning to take a bath.
- Narcissus #2: Where to? Down the road to the café?
- Dolores: What?! Oh, don’t be such a smart…
- Narcissus #2: If you want to take something down the road, I would recommend taking a bath chair.
(A yellow bath chair magically appears.)
A song in Italian starts to play, the song is called “Beautiful without a soul”.
Dolores is surprised to realize that she understands the words.
The first two lines:
E adesso siediti su quella seggiola,
stavolta ascoltami senza interrompere,
And now sit on that chair,
this time listen to me without interrupting,
Beautiful without a soul
Dolores cannot just sit and listen without interrupting. She finds Narcissus #2 annoying, bossy and totally unbearable.
- Dolores: Why are you fully dressed?
- Narcissus #2: Is there anything wrong with it?
- Dolores: I cannot even begin...
- Narcissus #2: I was expecting company.
- Dolores: Me?
- Narcissus #2: mmm…
- Dolores: So…
- Narcissus #2: Why don’t you join me?
- Dolores: mmm...
- Narcissus #2: Are you afraid?
- Dolores: mmm…
- Narcissus #2: That I will love you?
- Dolores: Love me?
- Narcissus #2: Yes, make love to you?
- Dolores: Will you?
- Narcissus #2: In your dreams! No, I will NOT make love to you. I will NOT make any sense to you either.
- Dolores: Stop threatening me!!! Besides, I am in my dreams. So the danger is real.
- Narcissus #2: Nothing is real. Come on, get dressed and jump in. We’ll talk.
- Dolores: I will not make any sense to you either, then. (Jumps into the bath as is).
- Narcissus #2: Oh? You have an oppositional defiant disorder. Anything else?
- Dolores: Plenty, but… I was thinking to make it more erotic.
- Narcissus #2: Why?
- Dolores: Well, you know. Sex sells.
- Narcissus #2: Are you planning to sell sex?
- Dolores: As in prostitution?
- Narcissus #2: I don’t know, it was YOUR idea.
- Dolores: No, …, just … any story requires some love line and erotica (even if it makes no sense) and sex.
- Narcissus #2: Senseless erotica and non-sense sex?
- Dolores: I thought it was the theme of the day: NON-SENSE.
- Narcissus #2: You are the writer, if you want to sell prostitution…
- Dolores: Maybe I could have joined the trade and could have made lots of money, but I chose writing instead.
Narcissus #2 laughs so loudly that the flying bricks seem to have lost their destructing effect.
- Dolores: What is so funny?
- Narcissus #2: The funny thing… is Do you know what Moliere said about writing?
- Dolores: What?
- Narcissus #2: “Writing is like prostitution. First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.”
- Dolores: Oh, yes. I know this quote. But I know a nice rebuttal to it, too.
Someone by the name of Merlin Fraser said:
“I think he got it ass backwards:
First you do it thinking you'll make money,
then you seem as if you are only doing it for a few close friends,
however; in reality you are doing it just for the love of it....
As a writer I think I'm pretty good
but I think I'd make a lousy prostitute,
I'd probably have so much fun I'd forget to charge .....!”~Merlin Fraser
- Narcissus #2: Well, you are supposed to write for yourself. And speak for yourself.
- Dolores: Only I cannot sell it.
- Narcissus #2: No, of course, not. Not with what you write. Or wear.
- Dolores: Oh, would you stop! Who cares what I write or what I wear? Madame Butterfly there is doing what he wants (she wants), you are supposed to do what I write you to do, but you are sitting here pontificating, moralizing, teaching and preaching and refusing to make any sense.
- Narcissus #2: I want you to know something. There will be no prostitution, no erotica, no senseless sex, but there will be marriage.
- Dolores: Who is getting married?

Narcissus and Echo
- Narcissus and Echo. Never Together, Never Apart
A phantasmagorical detour in the story of Narcissus and Echo. A never ending story of love, life and the search for the meaning. Of...? You decide.
A Trip to Italy
- Unsung Heroes - Readers. Twilight Lawns goes to Italy. Part 4 of 42.
Dolores awakens again to meet yet another… It is snowing in Rome and the most surprising part is that the author of “Trip to Italy” awakens as well in the middle of winter… to sing about yet another… self-fulfilling prophecy. - Unsung Heroes - Readers. Twilight Lawns goes to Italy. Part 6 of 42.
Dreams of Dolores...this is the last part of this particular nightmare (reality?) of Dolores. The next chapter must release the prisoners sitting in a cafe in Rome...

I think I went both on the date and to the publishing house. ;)
I could write a novel about my life over the past few months. A lot of changes happened...
I have been reading your "mood impressions" as you call them. I just find I lack the capacity to put my thoughts and feelings into words and comment. It's not writer's block, just a phase of life... I don't know if that makes sense.
Nevertheless, I'm slowly gaining momentum again so watch out! You may have a wild child on the loose sometime soon.
Hope you are well. :)
Love from
Your love child (created in the union of you and words, creativity, spontaneity, genuineness...)
I was just about to go to bed, and nurse my poor jaded soul, when I thought I would have a look for and read something new and interesting... so I came here.
I was not disappointed. I just love the easy flow and the inconsequential words that appear to be covering a very fast undercurrent of loneliness, lust and lasciviousness... but each of those naughty "l" words are just an excuse, and a cover up for the eternal "l" word.
The word that dares not speak its name, lest it suffers rejection. So I will not utter that magically gentle word, but say, "I love this hub. The flow, the ease, the gentleness of it"
Oops! I mentioned the "l" word again, without realising it... it slipped out. It was too lovely to hide its sweet face.
I haver a friend who once said to me, "I have never experienced requited love".
That is the saddest sentence I have ever heard.
Ramble, ramble, ramble.
Good night, dear friend.
Love you,
Ian

Wow! I'd almost given up on this one...
I thought it entered the limbo of stories, where all untold tales linger and wait to be brought back to life.
I like it! And welcome back to our unsung heroes...
Keep writing! ;)
